A month that was jam-packed with astronomical events will be ending in spectacular style tonight as we’ll be treated to not only a super moon but a super blue moon.
Tonight’s full moon will be the second of the month, making it a blue moon, and will coincide with the moon’s perigee, the point of the moon’s orbit closest to Earth, making it a supermoon.
The last time this combination of celestial events occurred was in December 2009 and won’t happen again for another nine years. Continue reading
